What is Deadmau5 Unhooked?

Deadmau5 Unhooked is different from his big shows. The unhooked show is basically without all the bells and whistles of the big show. There’s no cube, no back lighting, no LED Mouse head (LED mau5 head). It’s just Deadmau5 with his music gear, nothing else.

  1. Dissapionting that you where unhooked in durban

  2. Deadmau five

Why was the age restriction 18 your shows in South Africa

  3. nathaniel

WHYYY edmonton should be “hooked up” i just paid 120 per ticket from a scalper to not get the whole package… verrrrrrrrrrrrrry disappointed.

  4. Are you going for the music or the Cube? I think his shows were better before the cube and the LED head. Ultra 2009, Deadmau5 changed my life. Ive seen him every year after and its not bad but his shows are no where near as good as it was in 2009.

  5. I think that people might be bothered if they have never seen Deadmau5 before or like don’t actually give a damn about the guy underneath the mau5head. Like, if it was your first time seeing Deadmau5, you’d probably want the cube thing and the whole crazy LOOK of his shows… but I’d personally like to see JOEL ZIMMERMAN perform. haha

Like I said, I understand for all the people who’ve like never seen him, but you know, it’s still Deadmau5. The whole head and all that wouldn’t even if it wasn’t for the guy under the mask.

  6. Dingdong

Wow. Two people appreciate this for what it is…..2 PEOPLE! ( 3 including me ). That is just SAD.

  7. ElectroHead

I’m personally all for the unhooked idea. I love seeing the big names strip things down for the people that are there for the music, not to go stumbling about in a sea of strangers loaded up on whatever the hot new street chemical is. The only way this could be better is if he was playing a venue that sat less than 1000 people. I love the intimacy factor – saw Armin at a tiny little show this summer and it was absolutely unreal.

P.S. hoping for some classics played out in full (Not Exactly, This Noise, I Forget, etc.)

  8. ElectroHead

I think this is an awesome idea – totally agree with Tommy Maverick. Drop the spectacle and get back to the music. If I were him, I’d be twice as down to play for a bunch of people who are there to see him play his catalog, not get all smashed up on street chemicals, cover themselves in blinky lights and fail to recognize anything earlier than FLOABN.

  9. I don’t think that it’s a bad thing to want to see a largely produced show. It helps with the atmosphere sometimes. I’m not saying that I’m mad that I’m seeing Deadmau5 unhooked, but I still think it would be cool to see a really cool production as well as hear some cool music.

Please go to Vancouver. we are really looking forward to see you…..

@Kristine He will be there in December, the show is on on Boxing Day.

  11. I’ve been loving Joel’s music for probably 2 years now. His music is a like a drug in my mind, my imagination goes crazy, and I need no special visuals to be wow’d by the music.
A hooked up show would be cool, but personally I think I’d prefer an unhooked atmosphere.

“Im just so sick of hearing the “NO!!! IM NOT JUST DOING THIS, I HAVE 6 TABLES UP THERE AND I DO THIS THIS AND THIS” like… honestly. who gives a fuck? i dont have any shame in admitting that for “unhooked” sets.. i just roll up with a laptop and a midi controller and “select” tracks n hit a spacebar. ableton syncs the shit up for me… so no beatmatching skill required. “beatmatching” isnt even a fucking skill as far as im concered anyway. so what, you can count to 4. cool. i had that skill down when i was 3, so dont give me that argument please.”

  13. I would imagine he works better without that fawkin helmet.

  14. Awe sucks you will be unhoocked in el paso):
